Interview info
96-year-old eyewitness tells of World War II. This 96-year-old eyewitness & child war veteran was born in 1928. At the age of 16, he had to fight as a child soldier on the Eastern Front during World War II, after being called up to the front directly from the Reich Labour Service in 1944. In May 1945, he was taken as a Russian prisoner of war. Following the expulsion order in 1946, the 96-year-old eyewitness was arrested for burying a sheet of beeswax on his property. This beeswax sheet was mistaken for an anti-tank mine. During his arrest, the 96-year-old eyewitness was tortured and finally, in December 1946, at the age of 18, he was innocently sentenced to death by a court. This is the incredible life story of this 96-year-old eyewitness, whom I was able to interview thanks to his family.
