Interview Information
A 94-year-old Holocaust survivor tells of Auschwitz. This 94-year-old contemporary witness of the Holocaust survived Auschwitz: as a 14-year-old, the Holocaust survivor was deported to Auschwitz together with her family in July 1944. I had the great honor of interviewing this 94-year-old Auschwitz survivor as part of my peace project “Words of Wisdom from 100-Year-Olds.” Today, this contemporary witness and Holocaust survivor tells us: – How she experienced the beginning of National Socialism in Hungary. – How they were forced to move into ghettos in the spring of 1944, were crammed into cattle cars, and were deported to Auschwitz in July 1944. – How she survived the arrival at Auschwitz and the selection process. – How she survived daily life in Auschwitz-Birkenau during the summer of 1944. – How she survived a further selection and forced labor in a munitions factory as a subcamp of the Buchenwald concentration camp. – How she survived a three-week death march. – How she was liberated at the end of April 1945 and rebuilt her life.
